Hi there! Let me tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Jeffrey Ralston and I am a Tax and Accounting Advisor.

I began my professional services firm, J Ralston Advisors, in 2024. Several years ago, I became a bookkeeper after working in several roles at a Fortune 500 company performing accounting duties including A/P, A/R, account reconciliations, and inventory activities. In one of these roles, I managed a remote office with a staff of 8 and financial responsibilities totaling over $3 million annually for over 10 years. Additionally, during this same period, I volunteered as the treasurer for a local chapter of a trade association. I am not a CPA by training. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2001. This educational experience taught me many lessons about problem-solving. The sum total of all these experiences led me to start my firm offering financial services because I felt I could help others using what I’d learned.

After some time, I began to be intrigued with the world of dental practices and how my accounting and problem-solving skills could be put to use to serve these types of clients. I researched many different online sources, interviewed my dentist, and read numerous books and articles about the financial issues dental practices face. In fact, I’m still doing research and learning more every day, as it is a never-ending process. I became obsessed with finding ways to use my extensive background in accounting, business management, and even my training as a mechanical engineer to find better ways to serve dental practices.

My firm aims to provide your dental practice with at least these three things:

One: Compliance with the monthly bookkeeping, payroll and tax items. This is done by timely recording of all transactions in the QuickBooks Accounting System according to their proper account, reconciliation of all company bank and credit cards. We’ll do all this in order to track your profitability and minimize your tax obligations according to the law.

Two: Produce concise and actionable information in the form of KPI reports, analysis of your A/R (both patient and insurance), and the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows at the end of each accounting period.

Three (and most importantly): Clarity. We’ll take the time to walk you through all of this information that is so valuable and make it actionable so you can move your practice forward to achieve your goals.
